People arriving in the UK will need to self-isolate for 14 days from 8 June, 2020. This will assist in lowering the spread of novel coronavirus COVID-19.
Travellers must inform where they will quarantine. Enforcement through random spot checks will be applied. £1,000 fines in England will be imposed on violators.
On May 22, 2020, Home Secretary Priti Patel said the measure would "reduce the risk of cases crossing our border".
Lorry drivers, seasonal farm workers and coronavirus medics will be exempt.
The requirement of self-immolation will also not apply to those travelling in CTA, Common Travel Area i.e., from the Republic of Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.
