आदमी की औक़ात

एक माचिस की तीली
एक घी का लोटा
लकड़ियों के ढेर पे
कुछ घण्टे में राख.....
बस इतनी-सी है
आदमी की औकात।

एक बूढ़ा बाप शाम को मर गया
अपनी सारी ज़िन्दगी
परिवार के नाम कर गया।
कहीं रोने की सुगबुगाहट हो रही थी
तो कहीं फुसफुसाहट हो रही थी।
....अरे जल्दी ले जाओ जलाने
कौन रोयेगा सारी रात...
बस इतनी-सी है
आदमी की औकात।

मरने के बाद नीचे देखा
नज़ारे नज़र आ रहे थे,
मेरी मौत पे कुछ लोग
ज़बरदस्त रो रहे थे
और कुछ लोग ज़बरदस्ती
रो रहे थे।
नहीं रहा..नहीं रहा
चार दिन करेंगे बात...
बस इतनी-सी है
आदमी की औकात।

बेटा अच्छी तस्वीर बनवायेगा
सामने अगरबत्ती जलायेगा
खुश्बुदार फूलों की माला होगी
अखबार में अश्रुपूरित श्रद्धान्जली होगी।..
बाद में उस तस्वीर पे झाले भी कौन करेगा साफ़...
बस इतनी-सी है
आदमी की औकात।

           *गर्व हो जाये की मेरे बिना तो*
     *यहाँ काम चल ही नहीं सकता...*
           *तब आप अपने घर की दीवारों पर*
     *टंगीअपने पूर्वजों की तस्वीरों की*
           *तरफ देख लेना तथा सोचना की क्या*
     *उनके जाने से कोई काम रुका है...?*
           *जवाब आपको स्वयं ही मिल जाएगा*  
      *चौरासी लाख योनियो में,*
           *एक इन्सान ही पैसा कमाता है।*
     *अन्य कोई जीव कभी भूखा नहीं मरा,*
           *और इन्सान जिसका कभी पेट नहीं भरा!!

Why India Is The Most Racist Country in the World

The question has since become increasingly relevant. As we have written about earlier, Bollywood actors have launched movements that aimed at extolling the beauty of dark skin, politicians have repeatedly made the point. There have been horrific race-motivated attacks on Africans just within the last year even!

The Washington Post released a map based on a study by two Swedish economists that colour coded the map of the earth based on racist attitudes.

The study was simple: they asked people whether they would have a problem with a neighbour of another race. Only two nations – India at 43.5% and Jordan at 51.4% – scored over 40% in racial intolerance.

India is a great country to visit briefly, because the country itself is endlessly fascinating. An American journalist once described India as "a land of jarring incongruities". That is what makes India such a worthwhile tourist destination.

Gotthard tunnel: World's longest and deepest rail tunnel opens in Switzerland under Swiss Alps

Yodeling and a triumphant Alpine horn heralded the inauguration Wednesday of the longest, deepest railway tunnel ever constructed — a feat of engineering that will slash journey times across Europe.

The Gotthard Base Tunnel under Switzerland's Alps has taken 17 years and cost about $12 billion to construct and removes one of Europe's most stubborn natural barriers to trade and tourism: the lack of a fast route through the mountain range at the crossroads of four countries.

The 57 km (35 mile) twin-bore Gotthard base tunnel will provide a high-speed rail link under the Swiss Alps between northern and southern Europe.

Switzerland says it will revolutionise European freight transport.

Goods currently carried on the route by a million lorries a year will go by train instead.

The tunnel has overtaken Japan's 53.9 km Seikan rail tunnel as the longest in the world and pushed the 50.5 km Channel Tunnel linking the UK and France into third place.

Once the route for commercial service opens in December, it will take up to 260 freight trains and 65 passenger trains per day — reducing the number of cars and trucks clogging the roads between northern and southern Europe.
