Inside Norway's $47 Billion Floating Highway

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration is in the process of creating the world’s first floating highway. The Coastal Highway Route E39 will cut down a 21 hour travel time between the Norwegian cities of Kristiansand in the south and Trondheim in the north by at least half through the elimination of seven different ferry crossings. These crossings will be replaced with bridges, tunnels, and the innovative new Submerged Floating Tube Bridges which give the Coastal road its nickname. But Norway has its work cut out for it, as a project of this size and scale with the use of the floating tunnels has yet to be completed anywhere else in the world-- and attempting the historic roadway project will cost more than $47 billion.

With many fjords to safely traverse, the project is getting help from Universities, researchers and engineers all over the country. Though the project isn’t expected to be completed until 2050, they’ve already got a head start on constructing their first floating tunnel called the Rogaland Fixed Link or Rogfast. While the construction has allowed them to work out some kinks, it’s also cost $2 billion so far-- and that budget is growing. Norway aims to maintain its pristine natural beauty with these hidden highways, but first they have to figure out how travelers can remain safe at 150 feet underwater. Check out our video for all the details on this innovative new highway-- and how the rest of the world may soon follow in Norway’s footsteps.

Remove him from Commentary - twitterati for Sunil Gavaskar

Dragging a player's wife while criticising him was definitely not the right choice for Sunil Gavaskar. The former cricketer-turned-commentator took a dig at Virat Kohli and said that he only trained against Anushka's balls during the lockdown.

"Inhone lockdown me to bas Anushka ki gendon ki practice ki hai," said Sunil Gavaskar after Virat Kohli failed to deliver with the bat during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kings XI Punjab.

"इन्होने लॉक डाउन में तो बस अनुष्का की गेंदों की प्रैक्टिस की है"

Sunil Gavaskar came up with a surprising comment for the India captain. And while he didn't really mean any disrespect for the RCB captain and his wife - Anushka Sharma, one can say that his comment was perhaps uncalled for and highly personal.

Hazrat e Nooh ka Waqaya - Md Rafi

Noah, is recognized in Islam as a prophet and apostle of God. He is one of the Ulu'l azm prophets. Noah's mission was to warn his people, who were plunged in depravity and sin. God charged Noah with the duty of preaching to his people, advising them to abandon idolatry and to worship only God and to live good and pure lives. Although he preached the Message of God with zeal, his people refused to mend their ways, leading to building the Ark and the Deluge, the Great Flood.

In Islamic tradition, it is disputed whether the Great Flood was a global or a local one. Noah's preaching and prophet-hood spanned 950 years according to the Quran.

Noah's mission had a double character: he had to warn his people, asking them to call for repentance and, at the same time, he had to preach about God's mercy and forgiveness, promising them the glad tidings God would provide if they led righteous lives. References to Noah are scattered throughout the Qur'an, and there is even an entire sura carrying his name, Nūḥ.

CDC Acknowledges Coronavirus can Spread through the Air

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)'s page still says Covid-19 most commonly spreads between people who are in close contact with one another, and now says the virus is known to spread "through respiratory droplets or small particles, such as those in aerosols, produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, sings, talks or breathes."

These particles can cause infection when "inhaled into the nose, mouth, airways, and lungs," it says. "This is thought to be the main way the virus spreads."

"There is growing evidence that droplets and airborne particles can remain suspended in the air and be breathed in by others, and travel distances beyond 6 feet (for example, during choir practice, in restaurants, or in fitness classes)," the page now says. "In general, indoor environments without good ventilation increase this risk."

The CDC also added new measures to its information about protecting yourself and others.

The Youth Need to Shut Their Phones and Ask About the Economy

While this may be far lower priority item for Indians busy solving Bollywood conspiracies, it is worth noting that the Indian economy is in big trouble. The GDP shrunk by 23.9% last quarter, a level not completely unexpected but terrible and unprecedented nonetheless. It doesn't matter if it is coronavirus, God, government policies or a combination of all of these factors that caused it. It's like a spilt bowl of milk in the kitchen. We can argue all day whether someone kicked it, it fell on its own or the cat spilt it. The point is, there is no more...
